Autism Services FAQ and Common Questions

We understand that navigating autism services can be overwhelming, especially if your child has just been diagnosed. Below are answers to common questions we receive from parents and caregivers. If you need more information, feel free to contact us.

1. What is early autism care, and why is it important?

Early autism care refers to specialized interventions designed for young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Research shows that early intervention leads to better long-term outcomes by helping children build essential skills in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily living.

Starting therapy early allows children to maximize their learning potential and gain independence as they grow.

2. How do I know if my child needs early intervention?

If your child experiences delays in speech, social skills, or repetitive behaviors, they may benefit from early intervention. Warning signs to watch for include:
Limited eye contact or engagement with others
Speech delays or not responding to their name
Repetitive movements (flapping hands, rocking, etc.)
Difficulty with changes in routine or sensory sensitivities

If you suspect autism, consult with a pediatrician or autism specialist for an evaluation.

3. How do I get a CMDE for my child?

The Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation (CMDE) is a required assessment to access EIDBI services. It determines your child’s needs and service eligibility.

Steps to get a CMDE:
1️⃣ Talk to your pediatrician or autism specialist about the CMDE.
2️⃣ Contact us—we can help guide you through the process.
3️⃣ A qualified provider will conduct the evaluation and submit it for approval.

We can assist in scheduling a CMDE with an approved provider. Contact us for help!

4. Does my child need an autism diagnosis to start services?

Yes, to qualify for EIDBI services, a child must have a medical diagnosis of ASD or a related condition confirmed by a healthcare provider. If your child has not yet been diagnosed, we can guide you through the evaluation process.

If you're unsure where to start, reach out to us, and we’ll help you take the next steps.

5. What if my child isn’t talking yet?

Many parents worry about speech delays—about 78% of parents list communication as a top concern. Our therapy programs focus on improving communication skills, even for nonverbal children. We use:

🗣 Functional Communication Training (FCT) – Teaching alternative ways to communicate (gestures, signs, or picture boards).
📱 Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) – Tools like speech-generating devices for nonverbal children.
🎯 Targeted Speech Therapy – Helping children develop verbal and nonverbal communication skills.

Early intervention can make a big difference.

6. What happens after my child is referred to your services?

Once we receive a referral, we will:
✅ Contact you to discuss your child’s needs.
✅ Assist with scheduling a CMDE (if not already completed).
✅ Guide you through insurance and service approvals.
✅ Develop a personalized treatment plan and start services.

Our team is here to support you every step of the way. Contact us to start the process.
